Abstract: Objective To prepare forsythiaside from Forsythia suspensa by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Method A crude extract of Forsythia suspensa was prepared by water extraction and alcohol precipitation prior to polyamide column chromatography. Forsythiaside was prepared from the crude extract by RP-HPLC. Results Analysis with HPLC showed that the purity of the prepared forsythiaside reached 98%. Conclusion HPLC is simple and effective for the preparation of forsythiaside from Forsythia suspensa.
