  • Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing Statement


    OA Statement:


    Journal of Southern Medical University is an open access (OA) journal. All articles published in this journal will be made permanently and freely available to all non-commercial users for reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, and linking to the full text via the journal’s official website (http://www.j-smu.com/) immediately upon publication, without the need for prior permission from the publisher or authors. This journal does not charge separate article processing fees for open access. The journal adheres to the definition of open access as outlined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).



    Copyright and Licensing Statement:


    Authors of articles published in Journal of Southern Medical University retain the copyright of their work and grant the journal the first publication rights. The content is licensed under the CC BY-NC-ND license.


    Copyright holders permit others to reproduce, distribute, exhibit, perform, screen, broadcast, or communicate their published articles and derivative works to the public through information networks. However, in doing so, the other party must retain the author's attribution to the original work, and such activities must be limited to non-commercial purposes. Furthermore, derivative works may not be created.


    All authors are required to sign the journal's Copyright Transfer Agreement (available in the "Download" on the journal’s official website). According to the agreement, authors transfer the copyright of their papers (including but not limited to the rights of reproduction, distribution, information network dissemination, performance, translation, compilation, adaptation, etc.) to the journal’s editorial department. After publication, the copyright of the paper will belong to the editorial department. The editorial department will have the right to publish and use the paper in various forms, including but not limited to:

    • Publishing the paper electronically, in multimedia formats, online, or in other forms;
    • Licensing the aforementioned rights to third parties, allowing domestic and international literature retrieval systems, database systems, etc., to search and collect the paper’s data and to publish the paper in various media. The journal will no longer seek the authors’ consent when submitting the paper to domestic and international databases or retrieval institutions (including print, CD-ROM, and online versions).


    After the paper is published in this journal, the authors retain the right to continue using the paper under the following circumstances:

    • Reproducing, disseminating, or using the paper in accordance with the journal’s open license (CC BY-NC-ND) (e.g., for non-commercial academic conferences, academic reports, etc.);
    • Applying for patents;
    • Using the paper for other activities permitted and authorized by the editorial department.
