Journal of Southern Medical University Selected for Q1 in Its Discipline
Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology released the 2025 edition of the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report. The Journal of Southern Medical University has entered the Q1 zone in the discipline of "General Medicine," with a WJCI index of 1.724, fully demonstrating the sustained rise in the journal's academic influence and its achievements in high-quality development.
The WJCI Report, now in its sixth edition, has consistently focused on the goal of "fair evaluation, equal quality and equivalence," forming a relatively complete evaluation system. It enables Chinese and foreign journals to "compete on the same stage" under a system of the same source and same standards, effectively compensating for the structural bias against non-English journals in existing international evaluation systems. It provides a "Chinese solution" for the evaluation of global scientific journals, has preliminarily realized the transformation from research results into practical tools, and is gradually becoming an important instrument for global researchers and publishing institutions to understand journal influence. Currently, multiple provinces and municipalities use WJCI Report data as an important reference for selecting journal funding projects, and an increasing number of research institutions include journals indexed in the WJCI Report in their lists of recommended journals for faculty and student paper submissions. The report aims to support more Chinese scientific journals in ranking among the world's top tier and to enhance their appeal for cutting-edge achievements.
