Hierarchical image segmentation based on watershed filtering and fuzzy cluster

摘要: 分水岭算法是一种广泛应用的图像分割工具,它能够自动生成单像素宽度的封闭轮廓。分水岭算法的不足在于它的过分割结果,即生成大量小的封闭区域,使目标物体淹没其中。本文提出一种对分水岭算法过分割结果的模糊聚类方案,首先为每个分水岭区域定义特征量,然后根据这些特征量以及相邻区域之间的分水岭显著性计算两个相邻区域之间的近似程度,进而计算所有分水岭区域的模糊等价矩形,最终形成图像的多级分割结果。本文对多种类型的图像进行了实验。

Abstract: Watershed algorithms is an automatic segmentation scheme to generate closed outlines, which might give rise to over-segmentation, i.e., numerous small segmented closed regions that blur the target contours or shapes. In this paper, the author proposed a scheme to merge the small regions and generate a hierarchical segmentation representation. We first define the dissimilarity measure between the neighboring regions, and based on this dissimilarity measurement, a fuzzy matrix calculation followed by hierarchical segmentation is performed. Experiments with various types of images are given.
